Procedures Offered at Craigieburn
Adult circumcision
A 10 minutew procedure performed under local anaesthetic. Patients seek this for medical reasons (such as phimosis or recurrent balanitis), as well as for personal, cultural, or religious reasons.
Infant and child circumcision
A quick, modern procedure for newborns and young boys, with clear guidance given to parents beforehand and afterward. Craigieburn and the wider Hume growth corridor are home to a large and culturally diverse young family population, and our clinic is well practised in supporting circumcision decisions made for religious and cultural reasons, alongside clinical ones.
No-scalpel vasectomy
A minimally invasive, permanent contraceptive procedure under local anaesthetic. The no-scalpel technique typically means less bleeding, a lower infection risk, and a quicker return to normal activity than traditional incision-based approaches.
Initial consultation
A dedicated appointment to assess whether the procedure is right for you, explain what’s involved in plain terms, and answer your questions before any booking is confirmed. We also offer same day conuslt & surgery.
Lead Circumcision & Vasectomy Doctor at Hoppers Crossing
Meet Your Doctor: Dr. Shehab Abdalla
Dr. Shehab Abdalla leads patient care at the Craigieburn location, and his credentials are the reason many patients from the North of Melbourne & Victoria choose to travel here rather than elsewhere.
- Registered with AHPRA. Dr. Abdalla holds active registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, the body responsible for regulating every registered health practitioner in the country. (MED0001930473)
- A GP Supervisor recognised by the RACGP. This is a credential earned, not given — the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners recognises Dr. Abdalla as a GP Supervisor, responsible for training and mentoring doctors as they work toward becoming fully qualified GPs. It signals that his clinical judgement is one that other doctors are formally taught to model.
- Substantial hands-on experience. Dr. Abdalla has performed circumcision and vasectomy procedures for a broad range of patients, across different ages and clinical circumstances.
- A consultation that actually informs. Before any procedure, Dr. Abdalla walks patients through exactly what to expect — the process, the risks, the alternatives — so that the decision to proceed is genuinely informed, not assumed.
A doctor trusted by the RACGP to shape how future GPs practise is, by definition, a doctor whose own standards are under continual professional scrutiny — which is precisely the kind of accountability you want for a procedure like this.

Boys between the ages of 4 months and 12 months can have a phone/video consultation to obtain medical clearance prior to booking surgery.
Males greater than 12 months must have a face-to-face consultation prior to booking surgery to obtain medical clearance and have all clinical questions answered.
Can I have a consultation & vasectomy on the same day?
Yes, you can have a vasectomy & consultation on the same day. Please complete our vasectomy intake form here.
Can I have a circumcision & vasectomy at the same time?
Yes, you can have a circumcision and vasectomy at the same time. You will first need to book a face to face consultation to obtain medical clearance and have all your clinical questions answered.
Is circumcision a safe procedure for adults?
Yes. When carried out by an experienced, AHPRA-registered doctor, adult circumcision is a routine day procedure. As with any surgery, there are risks to be aware of, including bleeding, infection, or swelling, which your doctor will cover in detail during your consultation.
What does recovery from a vasectomy actually look like?
Most patients manage light activity within 2–3 days, and are back to full normal activity, including exercise, within roughly 1–2 weeks. You’ll receive specific aftercare instructions, including guidance on resuming sexual activity and completing a follow-up semen analysis to confirm the vasectomy has worked.
Can a vasectomy be reversed if I change my mind later?
Vasectomy is designed to be a permanent form of contraception. Reversal procedures do exist, but they don’t guarantee restored fertility, and we don’t offer reversal as part of this service — it’s important to be fully certain before proceeding.
Will I need a referral from my own GP?
No referral is required.
Do you only treat patients who live in Craigieburn?
No. While the clinic is based in Craigieburn, most patients come from surrounding northern suburbs, and a good number travel down from regional towns further north as well.
I live in Epping, Wallan, or Kilmore — is Craigieburn a convenient option?
Yes. These are among the most common areas our patients travel from, thanks to the clinic’s position right on the Hume Freeway corridor.
I'm coming from Shepparton, Bendigo, or Wangaratta — do you take patients from that far out?
We do, regularly. We know regional patients are often making a longer trip, so we’re happy to help arrange your consultation and procedure appointments together to reduce the number of visits.
How early should I book if I'm travelling a distance to reach the clinic?
As early as you can — particularly for infant circumcision, which is best carried out within the first weeks of life. Patients coming from further afield are typically seen within a similar timeframe to local patients; just mention it when booking if you’d like your visits scheduled together.
